President Cyril Ramaphosa speaking to residents in Soshanguve

President Ramaphosa went on an election campaign in Soshanguve to promise the residents of Soshanguve to eradicate unemployment.

He addressed residents at Block KK Park where he said the ANC Government has reduced unemployment in the last 25 years.

“In 1994 when the ANC took government, 8 million people were working and that number has doubled to 16.5 million people working, but even so, the majority of our people are still unemployed and the majority of these are the youth.

“During the investor conference last year we were able to raise R290 million which will be invested in the country, some of that money will come to Gauteng and to Tshwane so that the people of places like Soshanguve can benefit,” he said.

He said this investment will contribute to job creation so that South Africans can have jobs.

“We do not want to see our young people roaming the streets, we will assist our young people to start their own businesses through loans in order to respond to the needs of youth.

“We are also going to revive industrial parks through incentives to attract big business and also to assist SMMEs through funding incubators so that they can operate from these industrial parks,” President Ramaphosa said.

He said Gauteng Premier David Makhura is focusing on township economies in order to encourage the development of black industrialists supported by government.

He also stressed the importance of jobs in the agricultural sector because government is determined to invest in that sector to encourage agro processing to boost business and job creation.

In his election message, President Ramaphosa encouraged residents to vote for the ANC in numbers because the party is reviewing itself to emerge stronger and united.
